ABOUT THE POSITION
Our client is a partner-led boutique firm offering bespoke solutions to companies expanding both domestically and internationally in Europe and North America. Due to continuous growth, they have a fantastic opportunity to join their team in Barcelona, Spain, as a Manager - Client Accounting. In this diverse role, you will oversee the day-to-day accounting, statutory compliance reporting, and financial management reporting for a portfolio of Norwegian and international entities belonging to (fast-) growing, Norwegian-headquartered companies. You will become an integral part of their clients' finance teams, working closely to deliver high-quality services. Client service is paramount, with an emphasis on implementing robust financial procedures while ensuring statutory compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- In-depth knowledge of Norwegian accounting standards, including VAT returns and preparing annual statutory financial statements.
- Maintain day-to-day accounting records for Norwegian and international entities, primarily in Europe.
- Perform month-end or quarter-end closings and prepare financial management reports as per client agreements. Consolidated accounts preparation if required.
- Ensure accurate and timely statutory compliance reporting, including VAT returns and annual financial statements, in line with in-country deadlines.
- Collaborate with the internal HR/payroll team to provide coordinated, high-quality services.
- Manage and coordinate statutory compliance services provided by in-country partner firms.
- Serve as the primary client contact and relationship manager, adapting services to their growth and business needs.
- Travel to Norway as needed to meet clients and establish relationships.
- Perform other ad hoc duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
- Qualified Norwegian Accountant with at least 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in professional services. International accounting experience is a plus.
- Proficient in Norwegian accounting software (e.g., Xledger, Visma).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a team-oriented, “can-do” attitude.
- Detail-oriented and organized, capable of meeting deadlines.
- Experience in multi-country and growth environments is advantageous.
- Independent, goal-driven, and results-oriented.
- Skilled at multitasking and prioritizing competing tasks.
- Solution-focused.
- Fluent in Norwegian and English.
